What is a machine payments platform?
A machine payments platform is software designed to let a machine pay from its owner's own account within the owner's rules. Modern Pay Engine (MPE) builds that platform with MFAM (Machine Financial Authority Module), which is designed to sign only the payments that fit the rules the owner sets.
How a machine pays
- The owner signs the rules, including limits, payees and what the machine may pay for.
- The machine's systems request the payment.
- MFAM is designed to initiate and sign only the payments that fit the owner's signed rules.
- The signing key sits in a locked secure chip.
- Payment is designed to be made from the owner's own account. MPE never holds funds.
Working today
- The signing key sits in a locked secure chip.
- MFAM checks each payment against the owner's signed rules, then signs it for the machine.
- Payments over the limit are refused and never signed.
